DVC Configurator (QUICK START)
User Manual
Purpose
DVC Configurator (QUICK START) is an RS-485 terminal utility for configuration and diagnostics of DVC Point modems.
The utility provides:
connection to the device via RS-485,
sending DVC commands,
receiving and displaying responses,
quick access to standard operations through built-in controls.
1. Program Interface
The main window consists of three sections:
1.1 Connection Panel (top section)
Controls:
Port — COM port selection
Baud Rate — transmission speed
Data Bits — data bits
Parity — parity
Stop Bits — stop bits
Refresh Ports — refresh port list
Open / Close — open and close connection
Status Indicator — connection status (Open / Closed)
Purpose: configuration and control of the serial connection.
1.2 RS-485 Terminal (center section)
Contains:
display window for sent and received data,
manual command input field,
Send button,
Clear button for log cleaning.
Display:
incoming data — green text,
error messages — red text.
Purpose: manual command exchange with the device.
1.3 Quick Command Panel (bottom section)
Contains:
Select Command drop-down list,
button to send the selected command.
Purpose: sending standard commands without manual typing.
2. Hardware Connection
Connection via USB–RS-485 adapter.
Connection to the controller:
A+ → device A+
B− → device B−
GND → device GND
3. Establishing Connection
Default Parameters for DVC Point
Baud Rate: 9600
Data Bits: 8
Parity: None
Stop Bits: 1
Connection Procedure
Connect the USB–RS-485 adapter.
Press Refresh Ports.
Select the adapter COM port.
Set parameters 9600 / 8 / None / 1.
Press Open.
Successful connection indication:
status indicator — Open,
terminal message about port opening.
To close the connection — press Close.
Parameter changes are allowed only when the port is closed.
To avoid delays, do not insert the SIM card when sending configuration commands.
4. Working with Commands
Manual Input
Make sure the connection is open.
Enter a command in the input field.
Press Send or Enter.
Receive the response in the terminal.
Example Command
Request current date and time of the controller:
:CMD{DATETIME:?;}CRC:1234
The response is displayed in the terminal window.
Quick Send
Open the Select Command list.
Select a command.
Press send.
